I like that Frank admits to copying a sound clip off of the radio, better not let the RIAA know you can do that or this radio thing will get shut down for sure.
Boy, Steve really seems to be taking the limelight from his guest here. It seems a shame Frank had to put up with that, but he was a no-one and everyone pays their dues. Still, you can almost hear Frank's thoughts while Steve walks over him.
Another version, with Allen's discussion afterwards included. I can't catch the name of the composer Allen comares Zappa to, someone Nicholai? It's at 3:33.
One of the last century's greatest musicians being hopelessly misunderstood on one of the last century's greatest talk shows. And yet... how great that there was space for them to come together.
As I understand it, Allen played a big part in selecting guest for his show, especially musical guests. Ya, he's something of a goof here. But he allowed, and perhaps even wanted, Zappa on. And not just as a lark (see the YouTube clip that infrogmation links to). Perhaps Allen figured he needed to goof on Zappa to keep his audience engaged for the entire segment. Or perhaps Allen's just a stage hog. Or both.

Very entertaining! Zappa was one of the greatest guitar players I've ever heard. If you've never listened to it, pick up a copy of Frank Zappa Plays The Music of Frank Zappa, A Memorial Tribute. Awesome album. If you like the musical style of Stevie Ray Vaughan, You'll love it.
In the market, you may have seen a lot of models that feature great looks and vibrant colors. Just because a tricycle is well-designed doesn't mean it's the best choice. First of all, you must have a basic knowledge of adult tricycles.
This is great! Thanks for posting!

ReplyDeleteThe host really got into what Zappa's all about, eh?

ReplyDeleteI thought so too but Steve Allen redeems himself pretty well at the end at the end. I'd like to hear who he was going to compare Frank to, though.
